We want to do our part to ensure that future generations also have the chance to enjoy an ecological and social fabric. We pay attention to short transport routes, fair payment in the country of manufacture and less waste and rubbish through upcycling.
In the following section, we would like to give you an overview of the various seals that we use in our online shop.
Seals & Certificates
Greenkeeper logo
With our Greenkeeper logo, we have developed a logo to characterise the special textiles and other items for our fans. This means that every fan can see at first glance that it is a sustainably produced or upcycled piece of fan culture. In order to receive the Greenkeeper logo or to be allowed to be in the category in our online shop, at least 4 of the following 7 criteria must be met:
- Certified by an independent organisation (see e.g. the following certificates such as GOTS, GRS and many more) and checked by independent inspection bodies
- At least 50% upcycled / recycled or organic main material
- Manufactured in Europe
- Manufactured in Germany
- Social responsibility, e.g. living wages not only in the factories, but also in the cultivation of the raw materials. Articles are produced sustainably and under fair conditions.
- Regular production visits by Eintracht Frankfurt employees
- Sustainable function of the item: The article is not a disposable item, but is characterised by its longevity. In addition, a new cotton yarn was produced for individual items through yarn recycling, 100% of which was used for the fabric of new items. In this way, we want to counteract the throwaway culture and fast fashion.
GOTS
GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard and guarantees the sustainable production of textiles, starting with the first textile production step using organically produced, natural raw materials, through to environmentally and socially responsible production.
- At least 70% of the article must consist of organically produced natural fibres. In order to receive the organic label, at least 95% of the fibres must be organic
- No harmful chemicals are used in the production process
- Special features of the packaging and hangtag: no plastic, as it may only be made of paper that is FSC or PEFC certified or recycled
- Not only ecological processes are taken into account, but also social ones: the GOTS seal requires, for example, the minimum wage and the renunciation of forced and child labour
- Certification is carried out by independent certification companies
Fairtrade Textile Production
The Textile Standard and the Textile Programme are a comprehensive approach to empowering workers and improving wages and working conditions in the textile industry.
- With the Textile Standard, Fairtrade is holistically committed to fair trade along the entire value chain of a textile
- The Textile Standard is the first standard to define a fixed timeframe within which a living wage must be achieved throughout the entire textile chain.
- The approach also includes long-term commitments and fair purchasing conditions
- The standard includes the processing of Fairtrade cotton as well as other responsibly produced textile fibres
Fairtrade Cotton
All the cotton was grown by Fairtrade producers, certified and traded according to Fairtrade standards.
- The Fairtrade Cotton seal stands for fairly grown raw cotton
- The cotton of textiles bearing the Fairtrade Cotton seal is 100% fairtrade produced
- A prerequisite for receiving the label is that the cotton can be traced along the entire production chain from the field to the shelf
- Fairtrade Cotton promotes better working and living conditions for cotton producers as well as environmental protection
- As cotton is traded on the stock market in a similar way to coffee, it is subject to constant price fluctuations. The Fairtrade Cotton label not only guarantees fair cotton prices, but also helps farmers to cover the costs of sustainable production while complying with the same values as GOTS certification
Grüner Knopf
The Green Button recognises textiles that have been produced socially and ecologically and are marketed by companies that act responsibly.
- As a state seal, social and ecological requirements are assessed objectively and must fulfil over 26 criteria
- Among other things, the company is checked to ensure that, for example, it fulfils comprehensive due diligence obligations, pays minimum wages and checks that employees keep to their working hours and that there is no exploitation
- The company's environmental responsibility is almost as important
- No harmful chemicals or plasticisers may be used and, unlike some other seals, binding limits for waste water must be ensured
Global Recycled Standard
The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is a product standard for tracking and verifying the content of recycled materials in an end product that has strict production requirements. The standard covers the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labelling, trading and distribution of all products made with at least 20% recycled content.
- Reduction of harmful effects on the environment
- Sustainable processing of and with recycled material
C2C - Cradle to Cradle
Cradle to Cradle CertifiedTM is a certification programme that evaluates products and materials in terms of their safety for people and the environment, design for the future, use cycles and sustainable production. Cradle to Cradle CertifiedTM products are assessed for material health, reuse, use of renewable energy, CO2 and water consumption and social fairness:
- Material health: ensuring that the materials used are safe for people and the environment
- Reuse: Creating a cycle through recyclable products and adapted processes
- Environmental protection: Control and reduction of CO2 emissions and use of renewable energies
- Water consumption: water reduction and protection of clean water and soil
- Social fairness: respecting human rights and promoting fair conditions
Blauer Engel
The Blue Angel has been the German government's eco-label for over 40 years and identifies environmentally friendly products and services.
- Objective: To provide reliable guidance for environmentally conscious purchasing
- The Blue Angel stands for independent, transparent and ambitious labelling
Oeko - Tex Standard 100
Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is one of the world's best-known labels for textiles tested for harmful substances and is standardised worldwide.
- The label stands for customer confidence and high product safety
- If an article is labelled with the Standard 100 label, all components of the article (including all threads, buttons etc.) have been tested for harmful substances and the article is harmless to health
- Testing is carried out by independent Oeko-Tex institutes on the basis of the comprehensive Oeko-Tex criteria catalogue
- Numerous regulated and non-regulated substances that could be harmful to human health are taken into account
