The communications team in the merchandising department has set itself the task of informing fans about a wide range of sustainable measures relating to the fan merchandise range.
Communicating sustainability
Greenkeeper campaign
In 2017, GOTS-certified products were added to our range for the first time under the name "Greenkeeper Collection". Since then, the collection has been continued, but has not yet been actively advertised, which we would like to change more and more.
- Greenkeekper is a play on the words "Goalkeeper" and "Green", which is intended to combine naturalness, environmental compatibility and sustainability
- The collection should also be stylish so that the items can also be worn in your free time
- Until now, the GOTS standard has always been emphasised for the materials used
- Items in this category are now increasingly being labelled with various seals and certificates
Further information on the relevant seals and certificates can be found at the following link:
Reports from production
We create transparency by reporting on regional and sustainable production on site. We visited Koziol, workshops for people with disabilities and social organisations, among others, and documented the production for the fans. What all the facilities and companies have in common is the following:
- Production from environmentally friendly, recyclable material
- Less energy consumption during production
- Regional or European production and the resulting shorter delivery routes
- Fair and social working conditions
- The following applies to our upcycling collection: New items are created from material that can no longer be recycled (such as recycled ocean plastic or car scrap) or items that can no longer be sold (such as old jerseys from previous seasons), which we give a second life
Detailed information on product categories
Our Greenkeeper collection is divided into the following categories:
- Upcycling
We give old items that can no longer be sold a new second life. The focus here is on upcycling jerseys. Jerseys from previous seasons can no longer be sold, so we turn them into great new items such as T-shirts, toiletry bags, rucksacks, dog collars and much more.
- Greenkeeper Collection
This section primarily lists the items that we have certified by our manufacturers (e.g. Fairtrade, Grüner Knopf, GOTS etc.) and that meet one of our highest standards of sustainability. They are particularly sustainable, durable and/or regionally produced.
- Regional
The items in this category are produced regionally in Hesse or Germany. We work primarily with regional companies, such as Koziol, but also with social organisations for people with disabilities in Frankfurt, Hesse and throughout Germany. The advantage here is short transport and dispatch routes.
- Organic & recycling
The organic articles are made from organically produced, natural raw materials, which are produced under strict regulations from the very first work step. Recycled items, on the other hand, are made from materials that can no longer be used, such as old jerseys, recycled ocean plastic or car scrap.
Obtaining fan feedback
We endeavour to be in constant communication with our fans in order to receive constructive feedback with suggestions for improvement directly from the end user:
- Via Facebook
- By e-mail
- By hotline
- In the fan shops
- In the forum
- Via customer surveys
We take the feedback from our fans to heart and try to implement the suggestions for improvement wherever possible.

Online communication
We present Eintracht Frankfurt's sustainable commitment via various channels:
- Banners
- search engine marketing
- Homepage
- Social networks
- newsletters
All of these channels offer the advantage of a faster exchange of information. By creating transparency in the various facets of sustainability, we endeavour to offer fans a quick source of information online.
Offline communication
In addition to digital media, analogue media are also used to communicate sustainability:
- Employee training to provide the best possible advice to our fans in the fan shops
- Flea market: resale of sale items, B-goods and returns
- Charitable organisations: Possibility of supporting such organisations with donations in kind and money or employees who provide on-site support (-> see also our past "Auf Jetzt" campaign, for example)
Projects
From the field to the fan shop
The project, which was launched in 2022, has the common overarching goal of promoting sustainable cotton cultivation and facilitating the transition from conventional to organic farming methods for the 450 small farmers of the cotton cooperative in Rapar. In addition to Eintracht Frankfurt, eight other football clubs from the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 have joined the initiative.
